Non Invasive Rhesus D Test (NIRT)
Description
Non Invasive RhesusD Testing (NIRT) is a non-invasive blood test on blood of RhD-negative pregnant women that can determine the Rhesus D (RhD) status of the fetus. If NIRT indicates that a RhD-negative woman is carrying a RhD-positive fetus, RhD immune-globulin injections should be given during the pregnancy (around week 28) and postpartum.
Sample
The sample needed is 5 µg DNA or 5 ml EDTA blood to be sent at room temperature.
